Tourist Regulations

Circular Letter of the Governor of Bali Number 4 of 2023 regarding the New Arrangements for Foreign Tourists During Their Stay in Bali.

Do's

1

Honoring the sanctity of temples, pratima, and sacred religious symbols

2

Respecting customs, traditions, arts, culture, and local wisdom of the Balinese community during ceremonial processions and rituals being conducted

3

Wearing modest, appropriate, and proper attire when visiting sacred areas, tourist attractions, public places, and during activities in Bali

4

Behaving politely in sacred areas, tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping places, roads, and other public places

5

Being accompanied by licensed tour guides (who understand the natural conditions, customs, traditions, and local wisdom of the Balinese community) when visiting tourist attractions

Exchanging foreign currency at authorized money changers (Kegiatan Usaha Penukaran Valuta Asing or KUPVA) - both banks and non-bank institutions - displaying a permit number and QR code logo issued by Bank Indonesia

Making payments using the Indonesian Standard QR Code

Conducting transactions using the Indonesian Rupiah currency

Driving while complying with the applicable laws and regulations in Indonesia, including possessing a valid International or National Driving License, obeying traffic rules, dressing appropriately, wearing a helmet, following traffic signs, not exceeding passenger capacity, and not under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs

Using four-wheeled vehicles that are officially roadworthy or two-wheeled vehicles under businesses or associations of two-wheeled vehicle rentals

Staying at accommodation businesses that have the required permits according to the laws and regulations

Complying with all specific rules and regulations at each tourist attraction and during tourism activities

Don'ts

1

Entering the utamaning mandala and madyaning mandala of sacred places or places of sanctity, such as pura, pelinggih, except for the purpose of worship wearing traditional Balinese attire or during prayers and not while menstruating

Climbing sacred trees

Behaving inappropriately in sacred places and places of sanctity, pura, pratima, and religious symbols, such as climbing sacred structures and taking photos with indecent clothing or without clothing

Littering and polluting lakes, springs, rivers, seas, and public places

Using single-use plastics such as plastic bags, polystyrene (styrofoam), and plastic straws

Using harsh words, behaving rudely, causing disturbances, and acting aggressively towards government officials, authorities, local communities, and fellow tourists, both in person and indirectly through social media, such as spreading hate speech and hoaxes

Engaging in work or business activities without proper documentation issued by authorized institutions

Engaging in illegal activities such as trading illegal items including flora and fauna, cultural artifacts, sacred objects, and illegal drugs.
